Dhokra Threaded Stag Pair — Limited Edition
A pair of solid brass stags, cast by hand using the Dhokra lost-wax technique.
One of the most recognisable animal forms in Bastar Dhokra, the deer appears frequently in regional metalwork, drawn from the forests the artisans live and work in. The two figures are positioned in quiet opposition, creating a sense of balance when placed together.
The surface is built through layered wax threadwork, visible in the textured body — a result of the slow, additive casting process where each piece is made using a single-use mould. The level of detailing in this pair extends the making time to roughly 60–70 hours, spread across multiple stages of casting and finishing.
Solid brass legs and elongated antlers give the pair a stable stance and vertical presence.
Works well on a console, bookshelf, or centre table — either placed together or slightly apart to open up the composition.
