The Resting Tree

A panoramic Gond painting by Rameshwar Dhruve in acrylic and ink on canvas — two deer resting at the base of a single wide tree, its canopy alive with birds. Where deer settle by choice, the forest is at peace — and the birds above are its voice. 40 × 16 inches.

Original price was: £150.00.Current price is: £120.00.

Description

The two deer mirror each other on either side of the trunk — each built from different pattern and colour, but sharing the same ground by choice. In Gond belief, wherever deer gather freely, the forest is settled and safe. The birds scattered through the canopy carry their own role — in the central Indian forest, birds perch high and call out based on where a predator is, connecting every animal in the same space. Here they sit still, each one a different colour, the only accents in the ink-drawn canopy.

The tree dominates the canvas — dense, cloud-shaped forms built from fine wave-pattern and dot work across multiple rotring pen sizes. The panoramic format stretches the scene wide, giving the canopy room to spread in a way the vertical paintings can’t.

Styling:
A 40-inch wide canvas needs a long, uncluttered wall — above a sofa, console, or headboard. Thin black or dark wood frame.
